Procedural Copper Gate
The image above is a piece of procedural art generated from a directed evolution session that started with the MSG preset configuration we built in yesterday’s post. We’ll take a look at the process i followed to create this image, and reflect on the nature of hand built design vs directed random mutation and evolution in creating artwork.
Spatially Modulated Abstract MSG Grid Imagery
See the full gallery on Posterous Today’s post will explore another MSG processor that generates abstract shapes, where the shape positioning is modulated by an input stream. We’ll show how you can stack multiple instances of the 3C Abstract 5 Grid Mod CP processor to build up spatially variant abstract image complexity.
Colorizing a MSG Procedural Image with 2 Color Palettes
See the full gallery on Posterous We’ve discussed 2 different colorization approaches over the last 2 days for building abstract procedural imagery using MSG. The first used a 1to3ModGradMap processor to colorize a single image stream by modulating between 2 different color gradients with a second image stream as a modulator. The second in yesterday’s post used a ForceColorMap processor to map a full color procedural image using 2 different color palettes. Today we’ll discuss the ForceColorMap_DualMod processor, which uses a separate modulation image stream to modulate between 2 different color palettes used in a ForceColorMap colorization processing.
Colorizing 3 Channel MSG Procedural Imagery
Today’s post will continue the topic we started yesterday, looking at different approaches to colorizing MSG procedural imagery. Today we’ll look at using the ForceColorMap processor to colorize a 3 channel MSG procedural preset.
Using 2 Color Gradients to Colorize Procedural MSG Textures
Many MSG presets that generate 1 channel procedural textures use the 1to3GradMap processor to index map the black and white texture image through a color gradient to generate full color output. However, you can also work with 2 different color gradients to colorize procedural imagery. This post will show off how to do this using the 1to3ModGradMap processor.
Pseudo Organic Looking MSG Abstract Procedural Imagery
The image above is a procedural abstract image generated with a simple MSG preset. We’ll take a look at how it was constructed in this post. The 2 MSG Abstract processors used in the preset are useful for creating semi-organic looking vector procedural imagery.
